I found this great table from the link above in Reading Rockets. “The primary aim of Concept-Oriented Reading Instruction (CORI) is to increase students' reading comprehension in Grades 3 to 5 by increasing their reading engagement.” I found this table incredibly helpful because I found it practical and adaptable. It could be changed for another subject or to make accommodations for students. I also like the idea of having students read poems on alternating days that relate to the science content. I never would have thought about reading a science poem, however that seems effective on many different fronts.
